The Back Up, a.k.a safety strap, a.k.a cover your ass. We really can’t say enough about The Back Up. This is a go-to product.
IMPORTANT: All Back Up's are made in 1/2" width, with a 2.5" clip on either end. Therefore, when selecting your length, keep in mind the clips take up 5" of the total length you select. For example, if you order a 6" Back Up, there will be 1" of biothane in the middle, and the clips make up the remaining 5", for a total 6".
There isn’t anything worse than your dog slipping out of their harness or their collar. We don’t expect these things to happen but all we can do is prepare for them! The Back Up is your new BFF.
It is compatible with many different doggy things you already have in your kit. Use it with a prong collar backed up to the leash or flat collar, should the prong collar snap open you’ve still got a dog at the end of your leash (phew!). Bonus: Your trainer will be impressed you're using a back up with your prong collar! Use it with a harness by attaching it from the harness to the flat collar, or from the flat collar to the leash. Either way – you’re safe should your pupper slip the harness.
The Back Up has further (non-obvious) uses, such as extending the length of a traffic handle, using it as a clip to make a regular leash handsfree by clipping it to your waist, or attaching items to your treat pouch. The possibilities are endless, but either way you are "backed up" and free to keep the adventure going.

- Ensure you have gone through our size guide and utilized our resources to take all necessary measurements required for your order. Remember, we do not accept responsibility for incorrect measurements of your dog's neck size.
- Read through our shipping policy. We make every item as it is ordered so the production could take up to 4+ weeks plus shipping time before it is in your hands.
- Read through our return policy. We don't want to sound like a broken record, but it is so important to make sure your order has all the right info. Mistakes do happen, so we'll work with you to fix any problems, but they'll be evaluated on a case by case basis.

The Back Up
Safety and durability are a big deal to us here at Pack Hardware. We use top-quality BioThane and thoroughly tested hardware, and when we're thinking up our next product we always have the toughest uses in mind. We test all of our products and would never sell something we wouldn't let our own pups use, but with time and rough play we know things can happen. Please make sure you're regularly inspecting your Pack Hardware products for wear and tear.
